Since its inception in 2004, the Gulf of California Fund (FGC, acronym in Spanish) has strengthened the region’s ecological and social vitality, funding 136 initiatives. An external evaluation has recently highlighted the importance of adopting innovative strategies to expand the impact and ensure the permanence of the FGC. In the second half of 2023, the FGC continued to oversee the subprojects of the 2021 call for proposals, focusing on critical areas such as fisheries management, sustainable tourism and species monitoring with the objective of enhancing marine and coastal conservation, as well as raising the quality of life of local communities. During this same period, FMCN published the FGC 2024 call for proposals. Following an evaluation process, this entity will allocate financial resources to nine new initiatives.
