The Cuenca de Los Ojos (CLO, acronym in Spanish) project, implemented by the organization with the same name, safeguards nearly 50,000 hectares in northern Sonora, supporting the conservation of grasslands and essential ecosystems. Through alliances with academic institutions and other entities, CLO promotes the protection of native species, relying on scientific research to guide its practices. In 2023, its team advanced the grazing plan and underwent constant training in regenerative ranch management. In collaboration with the National Forestry Commission (CONAFOR, acronym in Spanish) and the National Commission of Natural Protected Areas (CONANP, acronym in Spanish), the project also reinforced the activities of the rural combat brigade against forest fires in Agua Prieta. In addition, with the support of the National Commission for the Knowledge and Use of Biodiversity (CONABIO, acronym in Spanish), 16 photo-trapping and audio stations have been installed, enriching environmental monitoring. Furthermore, CLO has expanded its environmental education program by holding workshops in local communities and promoting knowledge about herbalism, emphasizing the importance of conservation and community participation.
